PHOTOS: See What An Exploded Samsung Galaxy Phone Did To A Girl’s Body
. A Swiss teenager suffered second and third degree burns when her smartphone apparently exploded in her pocket.
Fanny Schlatter, 18, was injured when the Samsung Galaxy S3 allegedly blew up in her trouser pocket.
She claims to have been left with no feeling in her right thigh and said she will be launching a criminal complaint against Samsung.
French language paper Le Matin reported that Ms Schlatter was working as an painting apprentice when she heard a large bang.
She told the paper: ‘All of a sudden I heard the sound of an explosion – like a firecracker.
‘Then I noticed a strange chemical smell and my work trousers began to catch fire.’
By the time Ms Schlatter’s boss, Stephane Kubler, had come to her assistance, the flames had reached her shoulders.
She was rushed into the nearest bathroom where colleagues doused the flames before driving her to hospital.
Ms Schlatter explained: ‘Luckily my hair was tied up and my sweater didn’t have time to catch fire.’
However, she added that her burns were severe enough to make her smell like a ‘burnt pig’.
The burns have left Ms Schlatter with no feeling in her right thigh and the teenager has been signed off work until 15 August.
She now plans to file a legal complaint against the Korean phone maker.
In a statement, a Samsung spokesperson told the MailOnline: ‘Once we have gotten hold of the product in question, we will conduct a thorough examination to determine the exact cause of this incident.
‘We would like to assure our customers that we have always employed strict quality control and safety standards to ensure a safe and pleasant user experience.’
This is not the first time a Samsung Galaxy S3 battery has supposedly exploded.
In May this year, Reddit user Vizionx1208 posted pictures of his destroyed Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, claiming he was ‘awoken by a loud noise and a weird squeaking sound.’
He states the phone was on the verge of setting alight and his bedroom had filled with smoke and had a ‘pungent smell.’
He was able to put out the smouldering phone by chucking a glass of water over it but the phone had already burnt his mattress cover and left a small burn on his finger.
Last year, an Irish Samsung S3 owner claimed his handset burst into flames as he was driving his car.
However, it was later discovered, following tests by the Fire Investigations UK (FIUK) team, that the phone had been previously placed in the microwave to remove water damage and this may have been the cause of the fire.
It isn’t just the S3 model that has this supposed fault either.
PHOTO: Samsung Phone Gets Too Hot, Burns Down House
It is one thing for the Samsung Galaxy S4 to be the hottest smartphone on the market today, but it’s a different story when “hot” gets too real, sending a man’s house in Hong Kong up in flames.
Chinese website Xianghuo.com reported a recent incident involving a Hong Kong resident whose Samsung Galaxy S4 allegedly exploded and caught fire while he was playing “Love Machine,” one of the most popular games for Android.
After hearing a loud popping sound, Mr. Du threw his smartphone onto the couch, where flames quickly spread and caused substantial damage to the house. He and his wife managed to escape unscathed.
Another similar case was reported a month before this, in which an 18-year-old Swiss girl suffered third-degree burns on her leg from an exploding Samsung Galaxy S3 placed in her pocket. In 2012, the same case was reported in Dublin, where a man’s Galaxy S3 caught fire on his car’s dashboard.
Another incident involved Apple, Samsung’s key competitor. Reports state that a Chinese woman died from an electric shock when she answered a call on her iPhone 5 while the phone was charging. Another man reportedly suffered the same fate, only this time it led to a coma.
For Apple, using official chargers is a must for avoiding damage to the phone, not to mention physical injuries.
In a number of cases, unofficial third-party products were pointed out as the cause of the smartphone mishaps. As in the case of the Swiss woman, her phone was outfitted with a discounted replacement battery. But in Mr. Du’s case, he claimed to have used all legitimate Samsung products.
Samsung’s Hong Kong unit is currently investigating the incident.
HERE COMES THE Z30 – BlackBerry unveils larger smartphone with a five-inch screen [PHOTOS
. TORONTO – Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry has unveiled another new smartphone with a bigger screen amid minimal fanfare, as the company looks to attract users who want a midpoint device between a phone and tablet.
The BlackBerry Z30 comes with a five-inch screen, improved battery life and faster processor than the models released earlier this year, and is about the same size as its competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
It’s the latest effort by the troubled Waterloo, Ont.-based company to grab a larger share of the technology market, as Apple, Samsung and other rivals continue to release new versions of their devices alongside a growing number of players in the tablet market.
The BlackBerry Z30 is larger than most smartphones, but smaller than the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, which the company stopped producing earlier this year.
BlackBerry took a relatively low-key approach to promote the new device on Wednesday. The phone was announced overseas at an event in Malaysia that even chief executive officer Thorsten Heins didn’t attend.
MKM Partners analyst Mike Genovese said Malaysia is one of the few markets where BlackBerry has seen growth in recent years, and he expects that local consumers will value the larger screen more than in North America or Europe where alternatives are aplenty.
“It actually points out how limited this launch really is,” Genovese said in an interview from Connecticut.
“I think that we’re going to quickly forget about this.”
The approach is unusual, especially considering that tech firms often drum up as much enthusiasm as possible for their new devices in hopes they’ll eclipse their competitors. Both Apple and Samsung are known for CEOs championing new devices with conferences and streaming live video for loyal fans.
Unlike BlackBerry’s hyped launch of its Z10 in January, this time there wasn’t a flashy global event anchored by a CEO speech in New York or an appearance by singer Alicia Keys, who has served as the company’s global creative director.
Even as the BlackBerry announcement was made it was being overshadowed by early reviews for Apple’s new iPhones, which include fingerprint scanning technology and numerous other new features.
BlackBerry is in the midst of major changes within its own organization and recently formed a special committee to consider strategic alternatives, which could include its sale. Corporate decisions like that have raised questions about the future of the company, which could make the launch of the new BlackBerry Z30 a hard sell for customers.
“I’m just dumbfounded by a lot of the decisions the (BlackBerry) management team has made,” said National Bank analyst Kris Thompson in an interview.
“It’s unfortunate, but I don’t think this phone is going to make a difference.”
The BlackBerry Z30 will first arrive in the U.K. and Middle East next week, followed by availability at a number of Canadian carriers in the coming weeks, though specific dates haven’t been announced.
The company says the phone has a larger battery that will last for up to 25 hours of “mixed use.” Other updates include the latest version of the BlackBerry 10 operating system.
The announcement follows the unveiling of a new line of Apple’s iPhones last week, which included a lower-priced version of the popular smartphone in various colours.
Samsung also recently debuted its Galaxy Note 3, which has a larger 5.7-inch screen and faster processor than the new Blackberry Z30.

An Important Update About the Girl Who Wants to Have Sex with 100,000 Men
. . Someone once told me “it’s good to have goals.” Ania Lisewska, a 21-year-old graphic designer from Poland, has big life goals. Notably, to bang 100,000 dudes “of all races, creeds and colors.” She’s currently up to 424. “The most was 35 men in 8 hours.”
Remember, it’s good to have goals.
When a Polish woman announced that she planned to have sex with 100,000 men of all races, creeds and colors, some people laughed, some people thought she was out of her mind, and others thought she was just another attention-starved hoaxer.
But a few Egyptian Islamists are warning her to stay away from their country.
Back in May, Ania Lisewska, a 21-year-old graphic designer in Warsaw, decided to attempt the massive man marathon in what she described as a statement about sex positivity.
“I want men from Poland, Europe and all around the world. I love sex, fun and men,” she said. “In Poland the subject of sex is still taboo and anyone who wants to fulfill their sexual fantasies is considered a deviant, a whore or mentally ill.”
Lisewska tells the Huffington Post that in recent weeks, she has received offers from around the world, including the U.S., Brazil and, most recently, Egypt.
Mohammad Abdel Moneim, a man who told Lisewska that he works in Egypt’s hospitality industry, has reportedly offered to bring her to the country, according to Eram News, an Arab language website.
The website quotes Moneim as saying that Lisewska was excited about visiting Egypt, because of what she heard “about the beauty and greatness of this country dating back to thousands of years” — and the virility of its men.
Nevertheless, the reports that Lisewska might be coming to Egypt has spurred anger among Islamists, according to AlArabiya.net.
The website noted that many of the user comments on various Arab language websites regarding Lisewska shared the sentiments of a user who said she was “Despicable like your master.”
Lisewska is taking the negativity in stride.
“I am considering many offers,” she told Huffington Post by email. “Some Arabs are threatening me, while others are encouraging me to come. I can deal with the uproar.”
AlArabiya.net also noted that other users posted their mobile phone numbers in hopes Lisewska might call them personally.
One commenter pointed out the hypocrisy of Muslim Brotherhood supporters who claim to be defending religion while eagerly reading an article about a woman attempting to have sex with as many men as possible.
Another user angrily replied to that argument with this rejoinder: “So what if someone reads the article, we are not watching porn movies here!”
Although she claims she is not charging for sex, Lisewska is looking for sponsors willing to fly her to various ports of call where she meet her potential sex partners.
Without the funds to turn this sex romp into a full-time endeavor. Lisewska’s lusty hobby has been limited to weekends in Poland.
“I have my entire life to do this, so I’m in no rush,” she told The Huffington Post. “Up to now, there have been 424. The most was 35 men in 8 hours.”
She is allotting at least 20 minutes for each sexual encounter, so she isn’t expecting to celebrate the end to this marathon anytime soon.
Man catches best friend in bedroom with his wife, destroys 3 cars, GRABS a gun!!
A BEITBRIDGE man who went berserk, damaging his best friend’s vehicles after he discovered that he was having an affair with his wife, will pay
$8 000 after pleading guilty to a litany of charges.
Adolph Mbedzi appeared before regional magistrate Mark Dzira on Friday and was convicted on his own plea of guilty to charges of malicious damage to property and brandishing a gun in public.
Allegations against Mbedzi were that on August 24, he went to house number 626 Baobab Road in Beitbridge without permission from the owner of the property, Tinashe Mabidi.
He went on to destroy six window panes at the house before crushing the windscreen of a VW Amarok car and its rear screen brandishing a loaded FN Browning pistol.
Mbedzi also destroyed the rear and front windscreens of a Mercedes-Benz Compressor C200 vehicle and crushed the rear windscreen of a Toyota Corolla Ex-salon.
The value of the destroyed property amounted to $7 159.
Mbedzi was sentenced to 14 months in prison for destroying the vehicles with six months suspended on condition he does not commit a similar offence within the period.
The remaining eight months were suspended on condition he pays Mabidi $7 159 by December 13. The money would cover expenses Mabidi incurred in repairing the vehicles.
Mbedzi was fined $300 or two months in prison for unlawfully entering Mabidi’s garage.
He was also fined $300 or two months in prison for abuse of a firearm after behaving disorderely while brandishing a pistol.
In mitigation, Mbedzi through his lawyer David Maribiti, argued that he had been provoked after he found Mabidi, his best friend of 10 years in his bedroom with his wife.
“Any reasonable person in the accused person’s position would have been excused for doing even worse under the circumstances and he should be rewarded for exercising restraint,” Maribiti said.
The defence produced the wife’s cellphone in which Mabidi sent Mbedzi’s wife an sms saying he wanted her to accompany him to Petersburg in which the wife asked, “Where do you think it’s safe for us to meet?”
